Kasım 09′da müjdesini buradan verdiğim Toyota FT-86 Concept, Avrupa’da ilk kez gösterildi ve ben aracı yakından gördükten sonra bir daha Audi TT’ye herhangi bir övgü sıfatı kullanmamaya karar verdim.

Aracın, daha önce de belirttiğim gibi, en önemli özelliği, sürücü odaklı eski usül bir coupé olması. Platform tamamen yeni. 2 litrelik benzinli bir motora sahip olması bekleniyor üretim modelinin. 6 ileri şanzıman sadece düz vitesle alınabilecek ve araç arkadan itişli olacak. 2+2 kişilik oturma düzenine sahip olan araç, fütüristik görüntüsüyle içimdeki çocuğa, sürücü odaklılığıyla kalbime, boyutlarıyla da zihnime hitap etti. Toyota’nın Celica gibi efsane olabilecek bu modelini bir an önce üretmesini diliyorum.

FT-86 Concept previews a New Generation of Sports Car
Toyota has a long and successful history of creating exciting, driver- focused sports cars such as the Celica, the MR2, the Supra and the Corolla Levin AE86.
With its reputation for delivering pure excitement and embodying the fundamental joy of driving, the Corolla Levin AE86 is the inspiration behind a new Toyota Sports Concept, the Future Toyota-86 concept.
The Corolla Levin AE86’s front engine, rear-wheel drive powertrain, compact dimensions, light weight, impeccable balance and superior power-to-weight ratio made it the must-have choice for rallying and circuit driving throughout its 1983-1987 production life. Even today, the AE86 is still a popular choice with private rallying teams.
Sharing its predecessor’s front engine, rear-wheel drive credentials, the FT-86 concept previews a new generation of sports car which perfectly recaptures the exciting spirit of the last Corolla Levin AE86.

An Entirely Driver-Oriented Concept

The FT-86 concept is an entirely driver-oriented concept, designed to give form to the intrinsic joy of driving through precise, instantaneous responses to even the smallest throttle or steering input.
Rather than relying on a heavy, large displacement engine for its performance, it combines a free-revving, 2.0 litre petrol engine and a 6-speed manual transmission with compact dimensions, light weight and a low centre of gravity for the best possible driving experience.
The FT-86 concept’s front engine, rear-wheel drive format offers highly engaging dynamic abilities and maximum driving pleasure.

A Shape Generated Through the Constraints of Aerodynamics and Function

The classic sports car form of the FT-86 concept has been generated entirely through the constraints of aerodynamics and function, a design concept that Toyota’s European Design Development centre -ED2- has dubbed ‘Functional Beauty’.
With a low, highly aerodynamic bodyshell stretched tight over the engineering hard points, the FT-86 concept’s muscular, 4,160 mm bodywork has been made as compact as possible.
The concept features an entirely functional, ergonomically ideal cockpit, with the widespread use of sporting, ultra-lightweight components and finishes designed to further improve the FT-86 concept’s weight distribution and power-to-weight ratio.
Rather than regarding interior design as a stylised addition to the cabin framework, the FT-86 concept features a thin, simple, tight- fitting skin applied to the essential cockpit components, clearly visualised in the treatment of the dashboard and seat upholstery.

Toyota RAV4′ün makyajlanan yeni yüzünü Cenevre’de resmi gösteriminden önce haber yapmıştım hatırlarsanız. Toyota standının yeniliklerinden birisi olan RAV4, yeni haliyle fotoğraflarından daha çok ilgimi çekti yakından. Yine de küçülme (downsizing) modası çıktığından beri benim gözümde anlamını bir ölçüde yitirmiş bir sınıfın oyuncusu olan RAV4 için fuarda sadece 1 dakika ayırdığıma pişman değilim. Toyota’nın fuardaki asıl yıldızını sonraki bir yazımda paylaşacağım, Toyota sevenlerin özellikle beklemesini tavsiye ederim.

Alfa Romeo, C segmentinde 147′nin yerini alacak olan Giulietta‘yı tanıtacak. 2010 yılının Alfa Romeo’nun 100. yılı olması nedeniyle Bertone’nin Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione modeli üzerinde geliştirdiği Pandion adlı konsepti ve Pininfarina’nın güncel Spider modeli üzerinden geliştirdiği bir Alfa Romeo Spider konsepti de fuarda sergilenecek.

Aston Martin, hala şaka olduğuna inanmak istediğim Cygnet adlı minik otomobilinin üretim modelini tanıtacak. Cygnet aslında Toyota iQ’nun, Dr. 90210 programındakilere benzer bir kozmetik operayonla Aston Martin suratı çakılmış hali.

Audi standının bombası A1 olacak. A1 dışında, yeni A8 sedan ve RS5 coupe de ilk defa sergilenen otomobiller olacak. Büyük bir olasılık da Audi’nin E-tron adlı elektrikli konsept spor aracının yine sergilenmesi olacak. Sergilenen son E-tron konseptinin Audi’nin 2012 ‘de lanse edeceği arkadan itişli küçük spor modeli R4′ün bir prototipi olduğu görüşünü dikkate alınca bu araç da standın önemli otomobillerinden olacak.

Bentley’de Continental Supersports Covertible, BMW’de yeni 5 serisi sedanı inceleme fırsatı bulacağız.

Büyük lansmanlardan birisi de Citroen’in yeni C3 bazı üzerinden ürettiği DS3 Racing konsepti ve DS4 adını alması beklenen DS High Rider konsepti olacak. Honda CR-Z, Fiat 500 TwinAir, Ford C-MAx ve Grand C-Max, fuarda görülebilecek başka yeni modeller.

Nissan Juke ve Mini Counrtyman gibi küçük SUV‘ler de göreceğiz fuarda, hatta Dacia Duster gibi düşük fiyatlı küçük crossoverlar da. Ayrıca Porsche, para basan modeli Cayenne’in de yeni versiyonunu tanıtacak ilk defa. Mercedes-Benz’in F800 konsepti de fuarın en ilginç konseptlerinden olacak. Bunun dışında Peugeot ve Renault’da da yeni modeller, Toyota’da yeni Auris hybrid ve FT-86 konsepti, yeni RAV4; VW’de de tamamen yenilenmiş Touareg modeli görülebilecek.

Toyota to Withdraw from F1

Tokyo – TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces it plans to withdraw from the FIA Formula One World Championship (F1) at the end of the 2009 season.

TMC, which had viewed its participation in F1 as contributing to the prosperity of automotive culture, remained dedicated to competing at the pinnacle of motor sports, even in the face of the abrupt economic changes that started last year. However, when considering TMC’s motor-sports activities next year and beyond from a comprehensive midterm viewpoint reflecting the current severe economic realities, TMC decided to withdraw from F1.

TMC leaves F1 having compiled 13 podium and 87 point finishes over eight challenging seasons since 2002 with Panasonic Toyota Racing, a full-constructor team. It views its time in F1 – in which teams put forth their best efforts to fiercely compete at racing’s highest level – as an irreplaceable experience that provided an opportunity to develop both human resources and its R&D operations. TMC expresses its deepest appreciation to its F1 fans and others for their warm support.

TMC also wants to express its heartfelt gratitude to all Panasonic Toyota Racing drivers to date and to all Toyota Motorsport GmbH employees who have helped make the team’s achievements possible. TMC intends to do its best to find a solution for those parties who will be affected by any inconvenience this decision may cause.

Drawing on its experience in F1 and other motor sports, TMC intends to move forward in developing exciting production vehicles, such as the Lexus “LFA” supercar and compact rear-wheel-drive sports cars. In motor sports, it will not only race in various categories, but will also actively contribute to further development of motor sports by supporting grassroots races and planning events in which it is easy for people to participate.

Toyota’s Withdrawal from Formula One Competition

Thank you for taking the time to join us today for this press conference.

We have convened this conference to make an important announcement about Toyota’s participation in Formula One competition.

Toyota has engaged in F1 racing for eight seasons, starting in two thousand two. But we will conclude our participation in F1 competition with this season.

Our board of directors reached that decision after debating the issue thoroughly. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has supported our F1 program over the past eight years.

That includes the fans who cheered for our team, the companies that sponsored our racing program, the journalists who covered our activities, and the drivers and all the other team members, who shared the excitement of automobiles with people worldwide through F1 racing.

I attended the Japanese Grand Prix last month at the Suzuka Circuit. The passion of the fans was infectious. The team play displayed by our F1 team, Panasonic Toyota Racing, was incredibly impressive, and our driver’s performance was genuinely stunning.

When I think of the fans, emotions well up inside me. All I can hope is that people will understand that this painful decision was unavoidable in view of the present business environment and the medium- and long-range outlook. Our fans have been calling on us to really go at it next year. And I offer my sincere apologies that we will be unable to fulfil their expectations.

The Toyota F1 team has competed in one hundred forty F1 races over the past eight years. It has tackled each race with intensity and has honed its competitiveness continuously.

I salute the Toyota team for performing impressively in head-to-head competition with the greatest names in motor sports. And I thank the members of our team for sharing with us their passion and their vision.

I have been calling for product-focused management since I became president at Toyota this June. I have called for Toyota to concentrate on serving customers one at a time with flavorful vehicles that make them happy.

That priority mandates a fundamental shift in resource allocation. A sad result of that shift is that we have insufficient resources to maintain a viable commitment to F1 racing.

Economic and market conditions remain extremely trying. But adversity only heightens the importance of rethinking our proper legacy for the next generation.

A commitment to contributing to society through the manufacture of automobiles has steered all activity at Toyota since the company’s beginning. Today, we are undertaking several initiatives to promote the development of automotive culture on a new and higher plane.

Motor sports remain an important means of personalizing the automobile in the eyes of customers. Motor sports also remain an important means of cultivating human resources and our R&D operations.

We will rethink our motor-sports activities with an eye to maximizing those benefits while addressing economic realities. And we will take what we learn on the racetrack and put it to work in ever-better vehicles that are aimed at meeting the highest of expectations.

Toyota ve Subaru birlikte arkadan itişli ve düşük pozisyondan fiyatlandırılacak bir spor otomobil geliştireceklerini duyurduklarında henüz küresel finans krizi patlamamıştı. Krizle beraber bir çok gelecek otomobil modeli projesi rafa kaldırılırken Toyota ve Subaru, projelerini sürdürme kararı aldılar. Bu arada bir çok internet sitesinde Impreza Coupé görünümlü render görüntüleri dolaşmaya başladı.

Yaklaşmakta olan Tokyo Motor Show 2009 öncesi niyahet bu aracın üretim modeline yakın bir konsept olan Toyota FT-86 konsepti tanıtımı gerçekleşti. Aracın şasisi başka bir modelden alınma değil, tamamen özgün olarak Toyota tarafından bu model için geliştirilmiş. Motorun da 2.0 litrelik 4 silindirli bir Subaru Boxer’ı olacağı biliniyor. Araç 6 ileri manuel bir şanzımana sahip olacak. FT-86′da 2007′de Ditroit’te gösterilen FT-HS konseptiyle olan benzerlik de hemen farkediliyor.

Modelin adındaki 86 Japonca “Hachi Roku” olarak okunuyor. Hachi Roku’nun atası da Corolla temeli üzerinde inşa edilmiş 1980′lerden bir Toyota olan AE86. Toyota FT-86′nun 2011′de piyasada olması bekleniyor.

Arada atladığım başka kampanyalar ve reklam filmleri de vardır muhtemelen. Özellikle Almanlık üzerinden giden kampanyalar için söyleyecek tek bir sözüm var: “Almanlıktan aldığım tadı başka hiçbir şeyden almadım”.

Ha, unutmadan; “öylesine iyiyiz ki, gavurları kıskandırdık şerefsizim” şeklinde özetlenebilecek bu reklam stratejisi 90′larda ATCW tarafından Mavi için de kullanılmıştı.

Toyota iQ çok yenilikçi bir otomobil. Toyota’nın B segmentinde Yaris adlı bir minisi olduğunu biliyorsunuz. Toyota Aygo adlı model, Yaris’ten de ufak bir süper mini. iQ ise Aygo’dan bile küçük bir otomobil. Sınıf olarak Smart’la aynı kategoriye girse de 3+1 kişilik aracın ondan daha zeki bir iç tasarımı var. Aracın başka bir özelliği de fiyatının kendisinden daha üst seviyedeki araçlarla aynı olması. Yani kesinlikle ucuz değil. Zaten Carluvr.com’daki haberimde yayınladığım reklam filmine bakarak da aracın pazarlama anlamında nasıl premium bir konumlandırmaya sahip olduğunu görebilirsiniz.

iQ’nun viraline gelirsek, boyutlarını ve eğlencesini gayet güzel anlatan filmin sürprizi sonunda saklı.

Chevrolet Captiva virali ise tesadüfen cep telefonuyla çekilmiş gibi görünen, yayılma potansiyeli çok yüksek (klasik kötü kadın şoför klişesini kullanıyor) bir film. YouTube’da 1,7 milyon izleyiciyi geçmiş bir film olması da bunun kanıtı zaten.

Bu arada bu işin viral olduğunu nereden biliyorsun derseniz; videonun ilk çıktığı blogların yorumlarındaki tartışmalarda şu kanıt öne sürülmüş; çekici şirketleri asla bir önden çekişli bir aracı bu şekilde çekmezler. Zaten filmin yayılışı da Captiva modelinin Çin lansmanı sırasında olmuş. Biraz da reklamcı /pazarlamacı içgüdüsü diyelim
