İletişimde her alanda markalar kurumsal imzalarını atabilmek için logo ve kurumsal kimlikleri dışında sahiplenebilecekleri her türlü algı alanının da peşindeler. Reklam packshot’larında logoyla birlikte bir melodi duymamız 10 yıl önce (Intel!) yenilikçi bir fikirken, şimdi bir çok markanın uyguladığı neredeyse standart bir yönteme dönüştü.

Mercedes-Benz, son yıllardaki en büyük marka imaj kampanyası “The Best Or Nothing” yayına girdiğinde tanıştırdı bizi yeni ışık oyunlu dünyasıyla.

  

Mercedes-Benz, bu reklam kampanyasının hemen ardından, tüm ürün fotoğraflarını da yenileyerek yukarıdaki gibi farklı görsellerde farklı renk tonlarına ağırlık vermek yerine, morun ağırlıkda olduğu bir renk-ışık kodunu belirledi ve bu kod üzerinden tüm görsel iletişimini yeniden tanımladı.

Bu öyle bir tanımlama ki, bu yıl son kez Türkiye’de yapılan Formula 1 İstanbul Grand Prix’si için verilen ve Norbert Haug ve Nico Rosberg’in de katıldığı Mercedes F1 partisinde iç mekanda da aynı renk tonları ve ışık efektleri yaratılmıştı. Aşağıda gördüğünüz mor ışık huzmelerinin mekanın ortasındaki sahnede müzik yapan grubun etrafından seyircilere doğru yayıldığını ve sürekli hareket halinde olduğunu hayal edin.

  

  

  

Mercedes-Benz ve Citroen’in öncülüğünü yaptığı bu yeni trend elbette büyük bir hızla yayılıyor. Bugünlerde Volkswagen de bu kervana katıldı. Aşağıdaki VW Tiguan görselleri pek yakın bir zamanda yayınlandı.

  
  

Mercedes-Benz, 2012′de yenilenmesi beklenen A Serisi’nin daha sportif ve sürüş keyfi ön planda olan bir otomobil olacağının ön bilgisini vermişti. Bugün de, Concept A-Class adında yeni beklenen serinin bir ön gösterimi olarak kabul edebileceğimiz oldukça heyecan verici bir modeli tanıttı.

Mini Cooper, Audi A1 gibi premium mini segmentinde rekabet etmesi beklenen modelin hatları özellikle arkadan bir mini segment aracından ziyade, C segmenti coupé formunu andırıyor. Mercedes-Benz’in B serisinin yerine mi geçecek acaba bu yeni A diye düşünmeden edemiyorum bu yüzden. Aracın arka çaprazdan görünümü VW Scirocco’yu andırıyor, en az onun kadar sportif. Farlar ve ızgara bir konsepte yakışacak güzellikte, ancak yeni CLS’yi düşünürsek bu görünüm üretim modelinde bu şekilde kalabilir. Aracın içinde Mini Countryman’in koltuklarının ortasından geçen çubuk gibi bir ünite olduğunu da ekleyeyim.

Ön konsolda navigasyon uygulamasının bir iPad üzerinden görüntülenmesi de gözden kaçmıyor. Apple yalnızca Mercedes-Benz’in değil, diğer Alman otomotiv markalarının da gözbebeği konumunda bugünlerde. Tanıtım videosunda bu cihazın iPad olmadığını da düşündüm, zira cihaz içinde uygulamalar arasında aracın kırmızı mod ışıklandırmasına uygun farklı bir arayüz göze çarpıyordu. Acaba bu büyük dokunmatik ekran işini nasıl çözecekler üreticiler bakalım, kendi sabit ekranları ve arayüzleriyle mi, yoksa araçla verilen bir üçüncü parti tabletle mi?

World premiere at the New York Auto Show
Mercedes Concept A-Class: the beginning of a new compact generation

MONTVALE, NJ – The Mercedes-Benz Concept A-Class will make its debut at both the 2011 New York and Shanghai Auto Shows later this month. Looking as though it might have come from another planet, the Concept A-Class features an expressive and athletic design. Technical highlights include a new turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine, a dual clutch transmission and a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist.

The aggressive appearance of the Concept A-Class, with its long hood, low silhouette and slim side windows, is given depth by the interplay between lines and surfaces. Inspiration was drawn from the wind and the waves, as well as aviation engineering.

The Concept A-Class previews a new compact class era at Mercedes-Benz. This front-wheel drive model is powered by a four-cylinder gasoline engine from the new M270 series. It was designed for transverse installation and thanks to direct injection and turbocharging, offers high performance together with minimal emissions and fuel consumption. The Concept A-Class is equipped with the twoliter variant of the new engine, developing 210 hp. This BlueEFFICIENCY engine is mated to the new Mercedes-Benz dual clutch transmission.

As a world first in the compact class, the concept car features a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist, which lowers the risk of rearend collisions. This assistance system gives a visual and acoustic warning to an inattentive driver and prepares Brake Assist for a precise braking response. Braking is initiated as soon as the driver forcefully operates the brake pedal.

The exterior design of the Concept A-Class features the combination of defined edges and free interplay with the body surfaces that Mercedes-Benz first showed in the F800 Style. The side view is structured with three prominent lines: the front structural edge above the front fender forms a dropping line, while the prominent shoulder muscle above the rear axle underlines the car’s coupe-like character. A further line extends upwards from the rear wheel arch in a sweeping curve.

The front end of the Concept A-Class immediately catches the eye with the Mercedes-Benz star logo surrounded by what looks like a star-filled sky. Where there are usually openings or louvers, the radiator grille consists of numerous metallic silver hexagons on black stems. This theme is reflected in the design of the wheels.

The headlights of the Concept A-Class continue this design element with innovative full-LED high-performance headlamps repeating the starry sky motif with numerous light points. The daytime running lamps consist of 90 optical fibers with aluminum sleeves which are arranged in a wing-shape within the headlamp.

In the interior, the eye is immediately drawn to the dashboard which has the shape of an aircraft wing and a translucent, stretchable fabric lining. This enables the bionic, cellular structure of the dashboard to remain visible.

The shape of the air vents in the dashboard is reminiscent of a jet aircraft. The prominent dials in the instrument cluster are in red, inspired by the afterburner of a jet engine. The center console is designed as a modern flight control panel, with the shift lever designed as a “reverse thrust control”.

A smartphone is fully integrated into the Concept A-Class. All functions are shown in the display as applications, and can be operated using the rotary/push control. The visual presentation of the display screen elements is unique, with a deep, three-dimensional appearance created by laser-like magenta-colored lines.

Last endurance test for the new MAGIC SKY CONTROL panoramic vario-roof: In the glowing heat of Death Valley

Heat. Around noon it becomes unbearable. In the legendary Death Valley, on the border between California and Nevada, the thermometer soars to over 50 degrees Celsius during the summer. But the Mercedes-Benz test team considers these exceptional thermal conditions to be ideal.

In the middle of a rocky, scarcely frequented parking area, they have positioned three prototypes, one of which is the SLK, due to celebrate its world premiere next year. The next generation of the successful roadster is fitted with a glass roof which Mercedes-Benz will be offering – the world’s first automotive manufacturer to do so – as an optional extra in the new SLK. Known as the MAGIC SKY CONTROL panoramic vario-roof, this technical marvel boasts a unique level of versatility, as its name suggests: when open, it creates an intense feeling of being in touch with nature which is typical of a roadster, and being transparent it still provides an open-air feeling even in poorer weather. Yet it also features another unusual highlight: the transparent glass roof can be darkened on demand in a matter of seconds. As such, by optionally affording shade and a unique ambience, it helps to ensure a pleasant wellness atmosphere in the interior.

The luggage compartment is almost fit to burst with electronic measuring equipment. Dozens of cables trail towards the front, beneath the bonnet, into the interior and onto the innovative roof. This is the last rigorous operational and endurance check, in the severest of environmental conditions which a future SLK driver is ever likely to encounter anywhere in the world. During its development, the MAGIC SKY CONTROL panoramic vario-roof has already successfully endured hundreds of test hours, including sessions in the sun simulation laboratory and on various test rigs. Last winter, the future SLK and the novel panoramic roof passed the test programme in the cold arctic conditions close to the polar circle with flying colours – and that was at temperatures below minus 30 degrees. Now it’s time to turn up the heat.

To ensure that verifiable and reliable measurements can be guaranteed, the measurement technicians gather their equipment from their black van and set everything up. Then they make their adjustments under the blazing sun. The
centrepiece of their equipment is a so-called star pyranometer. It provides extremely accurate measurements of the energy generated by the sunlight to which the prototypes in this bleak parking area in Death Valley are being subjected, without any shade. At ten o’clock in the morning, with a clear sky, the device’s display is already showing a good 800 W. And it is climbing. Shortly after midday it will exceed the 1000 W mark. It’s almost impossible to go any higher. In the meantime, a light cloudy mist passes through briefly, barely discernible to the eye. Yet the intensity of the sunlight immediately drops a good 200 W. The test technicians have hardly noticed this change, yet the star pyranometer reacts immediately.

Of course clouds are something of a rarity in the height of summer in Death Valley. Generally the technicians allow the prototypes of the SLK to heat up in the blazing sun for four hours each day. They then continuously record the data from the unerring star pyranometer to gather base values, so that later the measurement results can be correctly compared against each other.

Their main attention is also turned to other measurements, however. Sensors are distributed throughout the entire vehicle. That morning, the technicians installed eight new sensors in the panoramic roof alone. These sensors painstakingly record every variation in temperature, make any possible stresses in the glass visible, and monitor the load values and responses of the electronic components. Everything has to work just as smoothly and reliably at temperatures above 50 degrees as it does at minus 40 degrees.

After four hours beneath the blazing sun, the test crew leaves Death Valley and heads off in the direction of Daylight Pass, travelling through a bizarre landscape which is constantly changing: solidified mud deposits form mountains which are then gnawed away by the powers of erosion.

A chain of mountains crumbles, and sandstone returns to sand. “Bleak, sterile mountains and blinding salt flats stare back at us”, noted Lewis Manly in 1849, when a Mormon trek had to wait 25 days on the valley floor for help to arrive. Later, an accompanying pastor’s wife wrote: “We have walked through the valley of death”, and with these words gave the valley its name.

On arrival at the test support centre in Beatty, located around 1200 metres higher up, it is comparatively cool: the thermometer here shows a moderate 40 degrees Celsius. And now it’s time to take stock of the day’s results. The collected data have to be sorted out and transferred to laptops. Today everyone is satisfied with the results. This means that the measurement results from each individual sensor have met all expectations. There were no surprises, as expected.

This has not always been the case. As with any innovative product, the new MAGIC SKY CONTROL panoramic vario-roof has also posed quite a number of challenges for the Mercedes-Benz engineers. Glass and foil have had to work perfectly together, and the control electronics have had to function in all imaginable circumstances. Sometimes the measurement data highlighted specific problems. This then resulted in the test technicians embarking on a flurry of hectic activity in their test workshop. What does this measurement tell us? How did it happen? What do we need to change in order to achieve an ideal result?

The technicians and engineers in Beatty were in constant contact with the
development centre in Sindelfingen via the internet. Suggestions were made, then discarded, and new strategies were created and components changed. Often parts were exchanged and new sensors installed by early morning.
This phase has now been completed. The last heat tests in Death Valley have now confirmed this – and they have also once again demonstrated, to impressive effect, the efficiency of the newly developed roof. After taking to the driver’s seat – following the vehicle’s exposure to the torturing heat for four hours – and switching the roof to darkened mode, the test technicians immediately noticed significant relief from the heat. Thermal images showed that the temperature in the region of the head and shoulders was reduced. Measurements using the star pyranometer located on the centre stowage compartment clearly demonstrated why this was the case. With an open roof, the sun load in the heat of Death Valley reached 1000 to 1100 W per square metre. With the transparent glass roof it dropped to 200 W, and when the roof was switched to darkened mode with MAGIC SKY CONTROL, it dropped to 40 to 50 W – just one 20th of the original value.

The unique MAGIC SKY CONTROL glass roof will now be able to celebrate its world premiere next year.

Paris Otomobil Fuarı öncesinde sürprizlerden birisi açığa çıktı. Mercedes’in E serisi bazında ürettiği ve spor sedanlar arasında kendisine eşsiz bir yer edinmesine yardımcı olan nefis modeli CLS sonunda yenileniyor. Daha önce meraklandırıcı bazı görüntülerin fuarlarda sergilendiği yeni CLS’in resmi görselleri sonunda yayınlandı. Mercedes’in yeni C serisi lansmanından sonra bir de bu yıl Cenevre’de tanıttığı F800 konsept modelini bir araya getirince yeni modellerin de (yaklaşmakta olan SL serisi güncellemesi de dahil) daha dik burunlu, köşeli hatlı modeller olduklarını tahmin etmek zor değildi.

BMW’nin 10 yıl önce yaptığı gibi bir silkelenme ve yeni bir tasarım kimliği arayışında olan Mercedes-Benz’in bu çizgileri, E serisinde muhteşem görünse de, CLS’de bir önceki model kadar zarif ve güzel bir çizgi yaratılmasını engellemiş. Araç güzel görünüyor ama bir şekilde ilk jenerasyon CLS’in premium ve sınıflar üstü duruşuna sahip değil, daha çok Audi’nin ruhsuz niş modellerini (A5 sportback isimli hatchback A4 gibi) andırıyor. CLS’in geçmişini düşünmeyecek olursak aşık olabileceğimiz güzellikte detaylandırılmış bir tasarım, ancak eski CLS’le yan yana konulursa yanında fazla oyuncak duruyor.

Hatırlamak için ilk jenerasyon CLS’in şık bir pozunu da koymak istiyorum.

The new CLS – the new design icon from Mercedes-Benz

A generation ahead: The CLS-Class created a new vehicle category in 2003 by combining the elegance and expressiveness of a coupé with the comfort and functionality of a sedan. The CLS delighted the public, astounded the competi-tion and created a new style icon: for years the CLS has endured as the only four-door coupé in its class, and since October 2004 it has been the car of choice for approximately 170,000 buyers worldwide. “Customers all over the world benefited from our bold move to launch a completely new vehicle con-cept onto the market”, explains a delighted Dr. Joachim Schmidt, member of the board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales & Marketing. “And with its exciting de-sign, the new edition of the CLS also benefits from the fact that we are a whole generation ahead of the competition with our four-door Coupé.”

Celebrating its world premiere at the Paris motor show (October 2 – 17, 2010), the 2012 CLS-Class will arrive in U.S. dealerships in mid-2011. The 2012 CLS-Class builds on the pioneering role of its predecessor with a fresh new inter-pretation. “The new CLS points the way forward for the future perceptible de-sign idiom of Mercedes-Benz”, explains Professor Gorden Wagener, head of de-sign at Mercedes-Benz. “At the same time it takes its inspiration from the great tradition of stylish, refined sportiness which has always been a feature of Mercedes coupés.”

Exterior: classic Coupé styling with distinctive front

The proportions remain as spectacular as ever: long hood, tightly-styled frame-less side windows and a dynamic roof sweeping back at an angle towards the rear. The four-door Coupé from Mercedes-Benz immediately made its mark in 2003 as a new style icon. Though the proportions are the same, the second generation of this design trendsetter has a completely new look.

What immediately strikes the eye is the innovative front design, which is remi-niscent of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Visually, the radiator grille is not inte-grated into the hood but formed separately. This further highlights the long, sporty hood. The grille is dominated by the large central star, which unites the car with other Mercedes-Benz coupés and also enhances brand identity. The large, elongated dark air inlets with black grilles also add to the vehicle’s ath-letic appearance.

Design brings high-tech features to life

Another distinguishing feature comes in the form of the full LED headlamps, which are the world’s first to offer all of the dynamic light functions using LED technology. This innovation boasts an impressive design – inside they are di-vided into three arrow-shaped layers from top to bottom: the upper layer con-tains an LED indicator, beneath which is a striking LED side light offers LED low beam functions. The side light can also be seen when the high beam is acti-vated, thereby creating a unique night-time design. The lowest level of the headlamp houses the main beam and nightview functions. A total of 71 LED’s provide an unmistakable appearance as well as a significantly enhanced view of the road compared with previous systems.

The typical CLS outline, with its elegantly long proportions, is the dominating attribute of the new model. The effect of the dynamic, athletic form has been enhanced with a new interplay of lines and surfaces. A unique “dropping line”, which begins above the front wheel-wells and slopes downward towards the rear, represents a new interpretation of a renowned design hallmark of his-toric Mercedes sports cars. A distinctive and muscular sports car-like shoulder line above the rear axle highlights the athletic character of the 2012 CLS. The flared wheel arches resemble the powerful stance of a predator waiting to pounce. The side profile is rounded off with wide wrap-around tail lights featuring LED technology — a linking element to the rear of the vehicle. The shape is empha-sized by the broad shoulder line, which is clearly visible from behind and sup-ports the flat roof. A wide metal insert adds a further visual highlight at the rear.

The interior: design brings quality to life

The interior of the 2012 CLS-Class is also distinguished by a timeless design which combines discreet elegance with innovative details and handcrafted per-fection. The eye-catching cockpit features a wrap-around dashboard sweeping from the driver’s door over the instrument panel support and across to the front passenger door. The central display has also been integrated seamlessly into the upper part of the instrument panel.

The CLS also lives up to its role as a design icon thanks to the innovative nature of the materials used, including a mixture of satin and high-gloss finishes used on the metal surfaces. Highlights also include matte galvanized air vents which ideally compliment a high-gloss-trimmed analogue clock.

Handcrafted perfection is reflected in details such as the stitched seat covers and dashboard. The individual parts of the leather dashboard are sewn to-gether by hand in a process which takes several hours, after which they are fit-ted and upholstered with high-quality padding. Prior to this process, the leather is also heated to preshrink it, so that it will retain its shape even after extreme exposure to direct sunlight.

The particularly exclusive 1.6-millimeter thick semi-aniline premium leather meets the highest standards of both look and feel. The natural pore structure remains intact thanks to a light pigmentation, and the leather has an especially warm and soft feel to it. Premium leather requires a very precise manual selection process and therefore a high amount of untreated leather.

The refined interior of the CLS is further reflected in the generous use of high-quality trim elements, located on the instrument panels, center console and door linings. Customers can choose between high-gloss brown burl walnut or high-gloss black ash. The wood has been perfectly fitted around difficult con-tours for a masterful handcrafted finish, and the wood trim has been matched according to grain as part of a sophisticated selection process to create a con-sistent overall impression.

For an even more progressive look, black piano lacquer or carbon fiber trim elements are also available. Handcrafted as well, up to seven layers are applied and polished for the piano lacquer trim until the high-gloss finish is achieved.

Mercedes standının en önemli modeli Mercedes-Benz F800 Style konseptiydi. Bu aracın, bir sonraki C serisinin görünümünü yansıttığı yazıldı ancak bana kalırsa C’den önce yenilenecek olan -ve büyük ölçüde sportifleşmesi beklenen- A ve B serilerinde bu konseptin yüzünü görmek şaşırtıcı olmayacak. Modeli biraz yumuşatılmış olarak yeni CLS uyarlaması olarak da inceleyebiliriz. Özetle daha keskin ve agresif yüzlü bir Mercedes geleceğinin projeksiyonu bu araç.

Mercedes standında F800′ün yanında Mercedes-Benz otomobil grubu başkanı Dieter Zetsche‘yi demeç verirken görünce hemen fotoğrafını çektim. Herr Zetsche’nin İstanbul doğumlu olduğunu ise o sırada bilmiyordum. bu konseptin görünüşü kadar ilginç ve üretime hazır görünen bir başka yeniliği de, B sütunu olmayan tasarımıydı. Aracın ön kapıları alıştığımız şekilde açılırken, arka kapılar sürgülü bir mekanizma ile açılıyor.

F800 konseptinin hemen yanında, bu hafta sonu Bahreyn Grand Prix’si ile başlayacak olan Formula 1 sezonunun yeni güvenlik aracı olacak olan Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Safety Car versiyonu duruyordu. AMG’nin 8 silindirli motorunu pistte F1 araçlarının önünde duymak için sabırsızlanıyorum doğrusu.

SLS AMG‘ye binme fırsatı da yakaladım. 2009 yılının en önemli spor modellerinden olan aracın içinin martı kanat kapalıyken bu kadar basık olacağını tahmin etmezdim. Tüm konforlu görüntüsüne rağmen safkan bir spor otomobil SLS. Dış görüntüsünün, özellikle de ön yüzünün beni tatmin etmeyen tasarımına rağmen aracın kendine has bir cazibesi olduğunu da kabul etmem gerekir.

Alfa Romeo, C segmentinde 147′nin yerini alacak olan Giulietta‘yı tanıtacak. 2010 yılının Alfa Romeo’nun 100. yılı olması nedeniyle Bertone’nin Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione modeli üzerinde geliştirdiği Pandion adlı konsepti ve Pininfarina’nın güncel Spider modeli üzerinden geliştirdiği bir Alfa Romeo Spider konsepti de fuarda sergilenecek.

Aston Martin, hala şaka olduğuna inanmak istediğim Cygnet adlı minik otomobilinin üretim modelini tanıtacak. Cygnet aslında Toyota iQ’nun, Dr. 90210 programındakilere benzer bir kozmetik operayonla Aston Martin suratı çakılmış hali.

Audi standının bombası A1 olacak. A1 dışında, yeni A8 sedan ve RS5 coupe de ilk defa sergilenen otomobiller olacak. Büyük bir olasılık da Audi’nin E-tron adlı elektrikli konsept spor aracının yine sergilenmesi olacak. Sergilenen son E-tron konseptinin Audi’nin 2012 ‘de lanse edeceği arkadan itişli küçük spor modeli R4′ün bir prototipi olduğu görüşünü dikkate alınca bu araç da standın önemli otomobillerinden olacak.

Bentley’de Continental Supersports Covertible, BMW’de yeni 5 serisi sedanı inceleme fırsatı bulacağız.

Büyük lansmanlardan birisi de Citroen’in yeni C3 bazı üzerinden ürettiği DS3 Racing konsepti ve DS4 adını alması beklenen DS High Rider konsepti olacak. Honda CR-Z, Fiat 500 TwinAir, Ford C-MAx ve Grand C-Max, fuarda görülebilecek başka yeni modeller.

Nissan Juke ve Mini Counrtyman gibi küçük SUV‘ler de göreceğiz fuarda, hatta Dacia Duster gibi düşük fiyatlı küçük crossoverlar da. Ayrıca Porsche, para basan modeli Cayenne’in de yeni versiyonunu tanıtacak ilk defa. Mercedes-Benz’in F800 konsepti de fuarın en ilginç konseptlerinden olacak. Bunun dışında Peugeot ve Renault’da da yeni modeller, Toyota’da yeni Auris hybrid ve FT-86 konsepti, yeni RAV4; VW’de de tamamen yenilenmiş Touareg modeli görülebilecek.

Heykel Star Wars – Empire Strikes Back filminde Han Solo’nun karbonda dondurulmuş halini hatırlattı bana.

Mercedes SLS AMG’nin en önemli özelliği kapıları değil tabii. Bu otomobilin yalnızca motoru değil, tamamı AMG tarafından geliştirildi. AMG, 1967 yılında Hans Werner Aufrecht ve Erhard Melcher tarafından kurulan şirket. 1980′lerde bağımsız bir Merdeces modifiye firması olarak ünlendi. Mercedes-Benz, 1991′de AMG’nin  %51′ine; 2005′te ise tamamına sahip oldu. AMG’nin ürettiği motorların en önemli özelliği, her motoru bizzat tek bir mühendisin üretiyor olması. Bu prensibi, sorumluluğun aktarılmasını önlemek olarak açıklıyor AMG yönetimi. Bir motorda arıza olması ihtimalinde tek bir suçlu oluyor bu durumda.

SLS AMG de firmanın en çok gurur duyacağı makine olacak gibi görünüyor. İyi bir spor otomobil yapmanın şartı ona en güçlü motoru koymak değil biliyoruz ki. Mercedes SL 65 AMG Black Series onca gücüne ve torkuna rağmen pistte rekabet etmek istediği Ferrari ya da Lamborghini seviyesine ulaşamamıştı. Bir kere başlangıç olarak SLS AMG modelinde firma 6,5 litrelik 12 değil 8 silindirli 6,2 litrelik motorunu kullanmayı tercih etmiş. Motordan 563hp güç ve 650Nm Tork elde etmişler. Aracın motoru ön-orta denilen, sürücünün hemen önünde bir alanda konumlandırılmış. 7 ileri çift kavrama otomatik şanzımansa aracın arkasında yer alıyor. Bu sayede elde edilen 48-52 güç dengesinin yol tutuş ve sürüş keyfine etkisini tahmin etmek zor değil. Aracın 0-100km hızlanması ise sadece 3,8 saniye. Yukarıda hatırlattığım SL 65 AMG Black Series’de661hp güç ve 1000Nm Torka rağmen 0-100 3,9 saniyeydi. Bu başarılı skorda aracın düşük ağırlığının da etkisi var elbette. Aracın son sürati 318km/s yani 198mph olarak açıklanmış. Bu arada aracın bir Cabrio modelinin de yolda olduğu ortaya çıkmış. Agamemnon, blogunda SLS AMG’nin Mercedes’in McLaren’la geliştirdiği süperspor modeli SLR’dan daha ucuz olacağını da belirtmiş. SLR’da 5,5 litrelik aşırı beslemeli (supercharged) bir V8 bulunuyordu; daha yüksek beygir gücü fakat daha az torku vardı o motorun SLS AMG’nin normal beslemeli V8′ine göre.

Spor sedanların asıl çıkış noktaları, Mercedes-Benz ve BMW’nin E ve 5 serisi gibi modellerinin fabrika onaylı modifiye edilmiş E55 AMG ve M5 gibi modelleri. Daha küçük sınıftaki aşırı güçlü sedanları bu sınıfa sokmuyoruz, çünkü spor sedanlar çok güçlü ve çok spor olmalarının yanı sıra, arka koltuklarında da limuzin konforu sunmalılar.

Bu sınıfta alışılagelmiş kalıpların kırılmasından 2 model sorumlu. İlk model, 1963′ten beri üretilmekte olan, fakat en karizmatik ve etkileyici haline 2004 yılında piyasaya çıkan 5. jenerasyonuyla bürünen Maserati Quattroporte.

Maserati Quattroporte 2004′te piyasaya çıktığında o kadar sıradışı bir sportif ve elegan görüntü sunuyordu ki, V8 motorlu diğer rakipleri öğrenci servisi gibi göründüler yanında. Maserati Quattroporte 9 Eylül 2003′te Frankfurt Otomobil Fuarı’nda tanıtılmıştı.

2004 New York International Autoshow’da ise yepyeni ve inanılmaz güzellikte bir Mercedes-Benz dünyaya tanıtıldı. Mevcut E-Serisi’nin kasasının çok az uzatılması sonucu E-Series platformunda geliştirilen bu yeni sınıfa Mercedes-Benz, CLS adını verdi.

Mercedes-Benz CLS gerçek bir coupé’nin profil çizgilerine sahip, ihtişamlı bir lüks otomobildi. Aracın ilk tanıtılan versiyonu CLS 500′dü. Daha sonra AMG modeli de tanıtıldı. Ülkemizde ve Avrupa’da CLS 350 en çok satan versiyon oldu. CLS 63 AMG modeli, 0′dan 100′km/h hıza 3,9 saniyede çıkabiliyordu. Gerçek bir sporcu.

İngiltere’nin prestijli otomobil markası Aston Martin, henüz Arap kökenli bir fona satılmadan önce 2006 North American Autoshow’da 4 kapılı Aston Martin Rapide adlı konseptini tanıtarak sadece 2 kapılı spor otomobil üreten bir şirket olarak 4 kapılı süper spor sedan pazarına gireceğini müjdelediğinde sektörde yeni bir kırılımı da gerçekleştirmiş oldu. Aston Martin gibi kendi tarzına sahip harikulade spor otomobiller yapan bir şirket, özellikle doğuda yükselen potansiyeli görmüş ve marka DNA’sını bir miktar daha genişleterek karlı pazarlar için de bir model geliştirmeye karar vermişti.

Rapide modelinin 2009 sonuna yetişmesi bekleniyor. Fakat bu arada Rapide’den daha geç duyulan ama ondan daha önce piyasaya çıkmayı başaran başka bir bomba daha var.

Porsche Panamera. Çok zengin olup da iki kişilik bir spor otomobile yüzbinlerce avro bayılmayı gözden çıkartmayacak kesim için ailesiyle de gezebileceği ya da sadece basitçe arka koltukla işleriyle ilgilenebileceği bir otomobil sunmak için yola çıkan Porsche, bir yandan da Porsche genlerine sonuna kadar bağlı, üstün performanslı bir otomobil geliştirmeyi başardı. 2007′de bir casus fotoğrafla geliştirilmekte olduğu bilgisi edinilen Panamera, 2009 Eylül’de Türkiye’de de lanse ediliyor.

Model geliştirip yeni segmentlere sıçrama konusunda kimse Audi kadar hevesli olamaz. Tabii ki özellikle 90′lardan beri gözüne kestirdiği en önemli rakibi olan Mercedes-Benz’in CLS’inin başarısından beri aynı sınıfta bir araç geliştirme hevesinde olan Audi, 2009′da yine diğer rakipleri gibi ABD’de Audi Sportback konseptini tanıttı. Bu konseptin 2 yıl içerisinde A7 adında yeni bir Audi sınıfı olarak yollara çıkacağını bile artık sağır sultan bile biliyor. Bu Audi A7′nin agresif ve fütüristik burun tasarımı sizi şaşırtmasın, önümüzdeki yıl yenilenecek A3 serisinde ve Seat Ibiza’nın gudik kasası üzerinde inşa edilen Mini rakibi A1 serisinde de bu köşeli ön ızgarayı ve antidepresanını unutmuş sorunlu ergen bakışlarını göreceğiz.

Bu arada sektörün en önemli oyuncularından BMW, Concept CS adında dehşet uyandırıcı bir konsepti tanıtmış olmasına rağmen bu modeli üretime geçirmeyeceğini duyurdu ve onun yerine sportif sedan kavramına SUV (sports utility vehicle) baharatını da katarak BMW X6 adlı cesur modeli piyasaya sürdü.

Model çok hızlı bir satış rakamı yakalasa da küresel finans krizinin ve yükselmekte olan sahte çevrecilik modasının da etkisiyle olumsuz bir imaj tehliklesiyle karşı karşıya kaldı. Bana sorarsanız BMW X6 şu anda piyasadaki gerçekten bağımsız bir düşünceyle yaratılmış ve konsept otomobil güzelliğine sahip ender araçlardan birisi.

BMW bu yıl bir konsept daha tanıttı. Önümüzdeki yıl resmi olarak tanıtılması beklenen yeni 5 serisinin üzerine inşa edilmiş Consept Series 5 GT adlı bu model de, sedan, coupe ve SUV özelliklerini daha yumuşak bir formda birleştiriyor. Güncel 5 serisinden daha yüksek tavanı ve oturma yapısıyla sürücüsüne bir SUV görüşü sunarken kasaya tam anlamıyla SUV demek mümkün değil. Tamamen tüketici davranış araştırmalarına dayanarak geliştirilen model, hislerle çizilen otomobillere hayranlık duyan nesil tarfından fazla laboratuar ürünü olmakla eleştiriliyor.

2008′de İngiltere’de lansmanı yapılan Jaguar XF de bu modayı yakalayan markalar içinde formu kendine en çok yakıştıran oldu. Jaguar markasının değerleri diğer bir çok markaya göre sportif limuzin kavramına daha yakındı belki. Jaguar XF ülkemizde de satılan ve Aston Martin’i andıran arka tasarımı, retro-chich’ten vazgeçerek doğru bir şekilde yepyeni bir kedi yüzüne kavuşan ön tasarımı ile sokaklarda görüldüğünde keyifle izlenen bir otomobil.

Son olarak İtalyan spor otomobil markaları arasında Ferrari’den sonra en çok hayran olunan VW Grup bünyesindeki Lamborghini, 2008 Paris Motor Show’da bir sürpriz yaptı ve Lamborghini Estoque (estokey) adlı konseptini tanıttı. Lamborghini Estoque, henüz üretimine kesin karar verilmemiş olunsa da V8′den daha büyük motoru olmayacağı, diğer Lambolar gibi 4 teker çekişli olacağı ve ürün gamında hybrid bir motorun bile bulunabileceği konuşulan konular arasında. Ben ilk gördüğümde sevgilim tarafından ihanete uğramış gibi hissetsem de, şu anda Estoque’in kendine has bir güzelliği olduğunu, Porsche’nin ve Aston Martin’in mengeneyle çekilip uzatılmış coupé formundaki garip sedanlarından çok daha asil olduğunu düşünüyorum.

Spor sedan, coupé sedan, süper spor sedan… Adları ne olursa olsun, bu yeni sınıf, çocukluk hayalleriyle tahrik edilmeye çalışılan orta yaşlı erkekleri heyecanlandırdığı kadar, tüm otomotiv sevdalılarına da yeni hayalgücü sınırları çiziyor.
